Premier League Relegation Battlers 2020

Premier League Relegation Battlers Scenerio

The 2019/2020 English Premiership is coming to an end and Liverpool are league champions after a 30 years wait. Their fate was decided since January as they were leading the pack with over 20 points and hadn’t lost a game the whole season. The interesting part of this season’s EPL is at the tail end where premier league relegation battlers settle.

Norwich’s destiny has already been confirmed, and they will be playing Championship football next season. The only 2 spots left for EPL eviction is opened to 4 premier league teams. These are Westham, Aston Villa, Watford and Bournemouth. Aside Bournemouth, the other 3 still have 6 points to battle for in their hope to escape playing Championship football.

Before talking on how each team can survive this battle, let us see their performance across the season How these teams have been performing at home? Watford tops the chart for points collected at home among these premier league relegation battlers. 24/54 points collected from visitors while Westham, Aston Villa and Bournemouth all got 21/54 points at their stadiums,

On the road, Westham is the better team. Earning 16/54 points away from home while Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Watford all got 10 points when they played away. This gives us an insight to expect events to favour some teams against the others but the influence will be the team they play against and what they are fighting for.

Can Westham United escape relegation this season?

Westharm have been on form since the return of football after the Coronavirus pandemic almost cut the season short. They have gained 10 point from possible 18 and that have taken them 6 point away from 18th place Aston Villa. With a goal difference of 14, I don’t see Westham going down this season although it is possible Mathematically.

David Moyes men faced Man United, his former team and will be expected to prove to his former employer wrong when his team visit Old Trafford tomorrow’s night. A point here will seal their survival fate as a premier league team next season. Should they leave Old Trafford with zero point, they will have to draw fellow premier league relegation battlers, Aston Villa on Match day 38 to cement their position, Check our livescores page to see their stats.

Mighty Villa is going down

They were playing Championship football last season. They finished 5th and needed a playoff win against Frank Lampard’s Derby County to return to English top flight division. Performance have been poor throughout the season and now, they are among premier league relegation battlers this campaign.

With two games left to play, Villa welcomes Arsenal tonight. Anything other than a win seals their fate for next season. Unfortunately, they are playing a team who aren’t just stronger than them but also need that three points to keep their hopes of playing in Europe, alive.

Then they will travel to fellow relegation battler Westham on Match day 38 and a win is expected if they don’t get all 3 points from Arsenal tonight. Their survival depends on Watford. They have nothing on Westham.

Premier league relegation battlers | Watford

The highlight for Watford this season is, they handed Jurgen Klopp’s men their first defeat of the season. Since the return of football, Watford has managed just 6 points out of 18 and tonight, they will be playing against Man City, with 3 points ahead of Aston Villa,

Watford need 4 points to escape relegation. But these premier league relegation battler will be playing Manchester City and Arsenal in their final two games. They will have to play as a unit to perform miracle in this two games left.

Bournemouth and Eddie Howe unhappy ending

One of the premier league relegation battlers this season is Bournemouth. Since their return to EPL, Howe has been playing fantastic football and grinding results with limited resources. This season, the team looks so thin and the effect is relegation battle.

Theirs is identical to fellow premier league relegation battlers, Aston Villa. Chances of survival depends on results from Aston Villa and Watford games. They have just one game left and that is against Ancelotti’s Everton. A 4-1 win against Leicester 3 matches ago means they can do it on Match day 38, at Godison Park.

I will say this, Bournemouth chances of survival is brighter than that of Aston Villa based on the oppositions both teams will b facing.

Who survives?

Westham will definitely stay up. Out of the remaining 3, Watford or Bournemouth will be joining Norwich and Aston Villa in next season’s champion campaign.
